The regular meeting of the Town of Pines Town Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Cathi Murray led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.In attendance were:Cathi Murray, George Adey, Vicki Kuzio, Alan Murray, Sandra Hall.Dan Fries was absent. Vicki made a motion to accept November’s meeting minutes and George seconded the motion and the motion was voted on and passed 3-0.
Clerk-Treasurer Sandra read the funds received and then she read the 2010 Pay Ordinance and Notified the Council of an Additional Appropriations Ordinance that will be presented at the end of the Year Meeting.The end of the year meeting is set for Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.
Building and Zoning Administrator A complaint about a duplex on Highway 12 was made to Alan.The complaint was that the duplex that was for rent is full of mold.Alan notified the County and they will be sending someone to inspect this problem.Alan is waiting to hear back from them and the apartment has already been rented out.Alan did several inspections of gas meters and electric meters.One gas meter did not pass and will need to be re-inspected after it is fixed.Lady on Railroad Ave has been enquiring about the water issue, Alan gave her some information and also other contacts to call regarding the issue. No permits were issued.
Street Department Leaves are being picked up as needed.Street signs are in and are put together.They will be installing those this month.Dan is requesting a dumpster for Railroad Ave.The Council approves the dumpster.Dan is also requesting that the council look into buying and installing a motion detector camera so that we can find out who is dumping there.
New Business Paul Kysel from the P.I.N.E.S Group came to the meeting to update the Town on what is happening with the water situation.The Group is asking the Town of Pines Town Council to 1.Consider drafting a letter to Lisa Jackson, Joe Donnelly, Richard Lugar, Karen Tallian, Charlie Brown and Mitch Daniels regarding the water problems within the Town of Pines and the Township.2.Express an interest to be kept informed by the EPA on what is happening.3.For the Town to consider having their own Technical Advisor to see this process through. Cathi will draft some letters.
Old Business Chuck Lukmann suggested that for the tax abatement that the Town sticks to a 5 year abatement instead of the 10 year.10 year abatements are typically for larger projects, for example a new hospital. George was on the radio promoting filling out the 2010 census questionnaire.The 2010 Census polo shirts and T-shirts are in.
