TOWN OF PINES TOWN COUNCIL MEETING March 7, 2018 The regular meeting of the Town of Pines Town Council was called to order at 6:30 pm. Cathi Murray led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. In attendance were Cathi Murray, Vicki Kuzio, Alan Murray, and Janice Lowe. Cathi made a motion to accept the February minutes. Vicki seconded the motion. The motion was voted on and passed 2-0. Dwayne Perry,Democratic Candidate Spoke to the Pines Residents about his credentials and experience and what he could bring to Northern Indiana if elected. Continued with a Question and Answer session with the public. Clerk Treasurer Reported that the Annual Report had been completed and submitted. Continuing to work on bringing the office current. Building and Zoning One permit was issued for a reroof. Alan reported that he posted a notice at 1602 Poplar St on February 16, 2018. Postponed any action until next meeting. Discussed unauthorized trailers parked on Railroad Ave. Fire Department Responded to 8 calls in February. Fire Department has applied for two 5,000 dollars grants. Currently 15 members are apart of the Department. Turnout Gear will be purchased with grant funds.
Street Department Vicki will call Sheriff concerning abandoned cars on Willow and Henry Streets. March 16th is the deadline for bids to be submitted to Abonmarche. A meeting will then be scheduled for opening of the bids. A notice will be posted once date is determined.
Old Business Ask Mr Burton if he had completed paperwork for the zoning board. He had not.
New Business No New Business.
Public Comments Comments were made regarding use of plow truck. Ms. Combs reported that there was a lot on John St that had standing water due to bad drainage. Marv Guenther reported that Brown Ditch needs to be cleaned again on the North Side of Highway 12. He also commented that he thought new fencing installed on a residence at Highway 12 had been installed on the right of way. Cathi to call Animal Control to see if Town has current contract. As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.
