October 7, 2009 The Town of Pines Town Council held the budget adoption meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Town of Pines Town Hall.In attendance were:Cathi Murray, George Adey, Vicki Kuzio and Sandra Hall. Sandra went over the budget for the Council and there were no questions.George Adey made a motion to adopt the 2010 budget and Vicki seconded the motion and the motion passed 3-0. The budget meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
October 7, 2009 The regular meeting of the Town of Pines Town Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Cathi led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.In attendance were:Cathi Murray, George Adey, Vicki Kuzio, Alan Murray, Dan Fries and Sandra Hall. George made a motion to accept the September meeting minutes and Vick seconded the motion and the motion was voted on and passed 3-0.
Clerk-Treasurer Sandra read the funds received.Sandra notified the Council of the court case being held in October 2010 and that a representative from the Council must attend the entire court hearing.
Building and Zoning 2 permits were issued.
Street Department Leaf Pickup will be from now until the first covering of snow.Trick or Treat will be on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. 4 bids came in for paving of streets.Vicki made a motion to table until next months meeting and the discussion that took place determined that waiting would pose a problem with weather.George seconded the motion and the motion was voted on and did not pass 1 aye – 2 nays.Therefore, the Council opened the bids and determined that Reith-Riley was the least expensive and so Vicki made a motion to have Reith-Riley pave E. Johns and Pine Street, George seconded the motion and the motion was voted on and passed 3-0.
Old Business George Adey attended the Porter County Tourism’s press conference on the new Dunes/Kankakee Trail Plan.We are for the trail, but George is unsure where the County is coming up with the funds for this project.It will cost a great deal. Will Morgan for the Census came to the meeting to impress upon the communities the importance of filling out the Census Questionnaire.The last Census only 61% of the Town of Pines responded to the Census Questionnaire.This Census the Town will lose approximately $824.00 a year for every person that does not get accounted for on this Census.This Census only has 10 questions on it and it is very simple to understand. One sixth of the people may receive a longer form please inform them to fill out both forms and send them back in.
New Business Sandra will look into what needs to be done to get started on plans to build a new Town Hall so that the existing building may be turned into all garage.

Claims Vicki made a motion to pay the claims and George seconded the motion and the motion was voted on and passed 3-0. As there was no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
