Since we are paying for this new Town Hall with Tax payer Dollars we must have a wage committee with at least 2 members. Vicki made a motion to appoint Alan Murray and George Adey to these positions and Cathi seconded the motion and Alan and George accepted the appointment so the motion was voted on and passed 3-0.
The job of the wage committee is to find out what the prevailing wage is in Porter County (AFCIO Wage) Then the committee makes sure that the wages that were paid are prevailing wages, and then report to the Council that they can pay the claims because they are following the prevailing wage.
When we put this out for bid the announcement must state that this project must be done according to the prevailing wage.
In accepting the bids it must be the lowest responsive bid that complies with everything we set forth (the specifications)
