Monetary request for assistance - Pines Fire Department needs money for new STATE REQUIRED radios. They need 9 radios at over $3000 each and 3 more voice pagers at $700 a piece. They were given six radios and we have a 15 person team. This is a state mandated change to 800 MHz that is now instituted by the county. Anything you can give will help the department communicate with the county. Our community and our neighboring communities participate in mutual aid, saving lives, dealing with car accidents and injuries, and fires, like Chesterton's Allure fire where no one was hurt.

Starting Monday, June 10, 2019 - NIPSCO will be working on over the next 2-3 months, setting up on Idaho and will be driving on California, 2nd Place, and Carolina.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT  CALLING 911
When you dial, 911, your emergency calls to 911 may be going to the wrong county. Becaue most residents having a Michigan City phone numbers, our emergency calls are going to Laporte County and must be forwarded to Porter County 911. In an extreme emergency this can waste valuable time.

To correct this problem:
* Call your phone service provider (AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, etc.) and ask them if your emergency calls are going to the right county (Porter is our county), if the service provider tells you they are going to LaPort County, have them correct the problem
*OR call the Town phone at 219-874-2853 after June 18th and leave a message with your name, address, and phone number
*OR email your information to townofpines@comcast.net. We will compile a list and forward it to Porter County 911 and they will make the change for us.

DON’T WAIT FOR AN EMERGENCY TO FIND OUT YOUR 911 CALLS ARE GOING TO THE WRONG COUNTY.
